TO : PARISH PRIESTS AND PRIESTS MISSION IN-CHARGE

RE : INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHRISM MASS, MATTERS RELATIVE TO NEW PASTORAL ASSIGNMENTS, JUBILEE PILGRIM CHURCHES

Dear Brother Priests, 

PEACE!

I am writing you this circular to give you some instructions and indications for the celebration of the chrism mass which is set on April 1, 2021 at 9:30 o’clock in the morning. Please be reminded of the following:

A. Instructions for the Chrism Mass

This will be celebrated at the Cathedral. All priests in the Archdiocese of Palo SHOULD be present primarily because of the Renewal our Priestly Promises. Please DO NOT BRING ANY ENTOURAGE except your driver.

B. New Pastoral Assignments

  1. As of this date all the pastoral assignments are already done. I have decided and instructed our chancellor that these assignments will be announced during the Chrism mass. I expect that all will attend the said celebration.
  1. I would like to remind you to review the circular which I have issued (Circular 001.21 dated February 21, 2021). In addition to that, in conformity with what was agreed upon the effectivity of SLA/SAF in 2014, may I remind you to refrain from bringing your own parish / office staff. With the recommendation of the current pastor, all existing church / rectory personnel shall be taken in by the in-coming pastor. Should there be an introduction of change of personnel, all necessary issues must be settled so as to avoid legal consequence or any action to that effect. 

C. Jubilee Pilgrim Churches

  1. We have submitted the names / titles of Churches to the CBCP. All 14 churches were approved and have been given the privilege of Plenary Indulgence by the Apostolic Penitentiary in Rome. We are in receipt of the said document.
  1. The Formal opening of the 500 year of Christianity in all churches will take place on April 4, Easter Sunday. The parish priests of the designated jubilee churches will have to open their jubilee doors (main door) on that day. The parish priests of the jubilee churches will preside using the Rite provided by the CBCP (please refer to the Archdiocesan website for the rite). The Archbishop will just visit to bless the door and the people on the day and time set by him.
  1. I am issuing the Decree of Proclamation for all 14 churches. Instructions for the opening of Jubilee Doors shall be included attached to this circular. May I request that said Decree may be posted where people can see them (most probably on the jubilee door).
