CIRCULAR

Prtcl. No. 004 s. 2021

TO : ALL THE CLERGY AND THOSE WORKING IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF PALO

RE : FR. HECTOR’S FUNERAL AND PRESBYTERIUM MEETING

Reverend Fathers/Msgri:

Greetings!

The family of Fr. Hector has requested that the funeral be scheduled 40 days after his death.  I have not seen any problem with this; thus, the funeral has been scheduled later than July 31 (which is the 40th day).

In line with this, I would like you to take note of the following dates:

July 2, 2021

  • His remains will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Valencia, Ormoc City and will stay there for 9 days, that is, until July 11.  After which, the remains will be brought back to Kananga.
  • The parish will be opened until 8:00 pm for those who want to visit.
  • You may also coordinate with Fr. Mike Arevalo, parish priest, at 0917-720-0249 for the schedule of Masses.

August 2- 5, 2021

  • His remains will be at San Jose Parish, San Jose, Tacloban City.
  • Those who want to visit and offer mass may coordinate with Fr. Rey Jostol, the parish priest, for the details.

August 5, 2021

8:00 am His remains will be brought to the Cathedral.
9:30 am Funeral Mass to be officiated by Archbishop John Du. Everybody is expected to be there. Interment will be at the Ossuary, Seminary Compound.
12:00 nn Priests will have lunch at St. John the Evangelist School of Theology (SJEST) dining room.  Visitors, relatives and friends will have packed meals served at the Ossuary.

Please be informed that lunch will be followed by our first time ever, since the start of the pandemic; face-to-face Presbyterium Meeting. This will be held at SJEST Chapel.  This will start at 1:30 pm and will end at 4:00 pm. However, since we are still in the time of the pandemic, everybody is admonished to strictly maintain health protocols (e.g., social distancing; face mask; and others)

Everybody is also invited to attend the Vigil Mass at the Our Lord’s Transfiguration Parish, Palo Cathedral @ 5:00pm.

(SGD) ♱ MOST REV. JOHN F. DU, D.D.
Archbishop of Palo
