HISTORY (read...)
In February of 2004, Abucay became a Mission Station. Rev. Fr. Elmo P. Manching was assigned as priest-in-charge. Abucay then had a regular daily masses. Rev. Fr. Elmo P. Manching used to go around the Barangay to know the people, to talk and listen to them, to enlist couples yet to be wed or baptized, literally to help especially those needing the administration of the sacraments. Fr. Manching, with the help of the Archbishop, Most Rev. Pedro R. Dean D.D. and benefactors, speedily put in place the chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Devotees used to come to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the devotion to our Lady, particularly on Saturdays. Rev. Fr. Elmo P. Manching used to lay his hands on everyone who would come to him for healing, while the community of devotees was at prayer. Up to the present the healing mass with the anointing of holy oil still continues. On May 15, 2005 Abucay Mission Station was transformed into a Quasi-Parish and on Dec. 12, 2005 it was made into a full-fledged parish as Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish by Archbishop Pedro R. Dean and Rev. Fr. Elmo P. Manching was installed as the First Parish Priest.
