INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHRISM MASS 2020 in the Archdiocese of Palo

On October 19, Monday, the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral, the CLERGY of Palo will gather for the annual CHRISM MASS at the PALO CATHEDRAL at 10 in the morning. Please take note of the following:.

  1. ALL CLERICS – priests and deacons – working in the diocese are required to participate.
  2. Because of limited capacity [since the priests will occupy the pews in the nave (main hall) and transept (side wings)], ONLY the following non-clerics or laypersons will be allowed to take part – some religious sisters, chancery personnel, Palo Major seminarians (some of whom will serve at mass) and the choir members (who will occupy the choir loft). And so, priests are advised NOT TO BRING ANY PARISH REPRESENTATIVE, except their driver. LATECOMERS will be ushered to their designated place inside the church (and should avoid remaining in the sacristy).
  3. Priests may PARK their cars in front of the Cathedral or in the area near the Rectory. Please note that only two gates near UP (one to the Cathedral plaza and the other to the Rectory) will be open.
  4. Since COVID cases in our area have not yet abated, we strongly advise all to observe the MANDATED HEALTH PROTOCOL – hand sanitation, wearing face masks, and physical distancing.
  5. Upon vesting in the sacristy, priests are requested to go immediately to their DESIGNATED PLACES inside the Cathedral. Ushers will be around to assist.
  6. Members of the CURIA and VICARS FORANE are requested to join the Archbishop in the Procession to the sanctuary where they will all be seated.
  7. LUNCH for the priests will be served at the ARCIVU Hall. Non-clerics will take lunch at the Transfiguration Hall.
  8. HOLY OILS will only be AVAILABLE after lunch in the Cathedral Sacristy.

PRAY for the Archbishop, the archdiocese, and for a fruitful gathering!
