Archbishop John F. Du was born on October 18, 1954 in Bantayan, Cebu City. He was ordained priest on June 1, 1979. He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu on November 21, 1997 by Pope John Paul II. His Episcopal ordination was on January 6, 1998.
On April 21, 2001, he was appointed Bishop of Dumaguete. His installation took place on July 18, 2001. He was appointed Archbishop of Palo on February 25, 2012 and was installed on May 9, 2012. He is currently the Treasurer of the Catholic Bishops Confer- ence of the Philippines (CBCP) Permanent Council and Chairman of the CBCP Pension Plan Committee
