Palo, Leyte—One of the activities of  Pope Francis when he visits this town on January 17, 2015, is to bless the mass grave of super-typhoon Yolanda victims at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Lord’s Transfiguration. Palo Archbishop John F. Du said this will take place at about 4 p.m. after the Pope’s meeting with the religious, lay people, seminarians, and families of Yolanda survivors at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Lord’s Transfiguration here. About 400 sq.m. in size, the mass grave is one of several burial grounds for those killed during the typhoon. About 300 persons were buried in the mass grave which is located some 10 meters from the church. After the blessing, the Pope will motor back to Tacloban to take his flight back to Manila.
